We are proud to offer light tackle action inshore fishing charters for  Bass, Bluefish, Cod, Mackerel, and Pollock. Captain Ben recommends 4-6 hour trips for inshore fishing but we can customize the trip based on your needs. Much like Family trips, these are usually within 5 miles of the coast offering calmer waters and protection from the coastline on windier days. The primary difference between family trips and inshore trips is that you will fish for a longer time and target bigger fish. Instead of dropping baits to the bottom and drifting to target smaller fish you are more likely to be casting live baits or using chunk baits. On inshore fishing trips, Captain Ben will typically anchor up or troll instead of drifting. The difference in these techniques and the longer fishing time will give you a much higher chance of hooking larger fish which are challenging and very fun to catch on light tackle. Inshore trips are recommended for intermediate to experienced anglers. Families are still most welcome to book this trip type but Captain Ben recommends families with older children for this trip type as they are typically more patient waiting for the bigger fish. Like all fishing trips we offer, Captain Ben will fillet and bag any legal sized fish you wish to keep or is just as happy to catch, and release.

On the way to the fishing area, you will see historic Portland harbor and pass historic war forts and lighthouses including Portland head light, one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world. Common sites are also harbor seals, osprey, bald eagles, porpoise, and small whales.
