I called Captain Ben the day before to ask if he could take us fishing for a couple hours after work. My wife and I hadn't fished in saltwater for a couple years and were both eager to catch some mackerel. We met Captain Ben at the dock and were welcomed aboard his beautiful 28' Grady with twin 250s and then given a safety briefing. The boat is clean, well equipped, roomy and stable. A short cruise later, we were into the fish action until nearly dark. All smiles here - we caught at least 25 macks, a pollack and two black sea bass. The ride back was awesome. Many photo ops - seals, porpoises, birds, lighthouses, rocky Maine coastline and other boats! Captain Ben is a knowledgeable tour guide too. Definitely would go again - highly recommended. My dad, brother, and I have been going out every summer for stripers with Captain Ben for almost a decade. He’s a fantastic guide, and always works hard to get us on the fish. He knows the area well and always has another spot to check when the fish aren’t cooperating. Can’t recommend him more highly.

My husband has always wanted to go fishing in the ocean and we finally made it happen with Capt. Ben’s help. We rescheduled once due to forecasts of strong winds but Ben made that process easy. He was very responsive to texts from the very first contact. And he’s just a really nice guy! You never quite know how it will be to spend 6 hours with a stranger, but conversation was easy. It was just my husband and I on the boat, but it would easily accommodate 4 for fishing. The boat was very clean and seemed really well maintained. I have relatively little fishing experience, and Ben was great about helping me with casting, etc. We did catch one striped bass on our charter, and almost got a second one into the boat shortly after. But this was in the final hour of our trip. It was actually cool to see how much Ben cared about whether we caught anything or not. I mean, we were definitely psyched with the catch, but we were really OK with just being out there. Not Ben though- he was clearly invested in catching something. I should note that all the charter boats in the water that day seemed to be having challenges with getting the fish to bite, it wasn’t just Ben’s boat. It was nice to see that they do work together to try to ensure success for one another. I have no reservations about recommending Capt Ben; Really hope we can go out with him again soon!

My son and I just had the most sensational fishing experience in Portland this week. We were fortunate to sail with Captain Ben with Kristin K Charters whose wealth of fishing experience allowed us to find the hot spots where the fish were biting. First cast of the day my son landed a 24 inch striper and the momentum did not stop there. Nine more huge stripers and a feisty bluefish kept the smiles on our faces. Ben afforded us the personal attention and know-how to make a good day of fishing into a great day and we are eternally grateful. We look forward to coming back again in the near future.

Capt. Ben is the coolest laid-back fishiest captain around, and i am very happy i was able to to finally catch a striper. The Stripebass is one of my bucket list fish, and i had a small window in Portland, ME to get it done, and I was lucky to get a reservation on the Kristin K charters. The whole process was really easy. The captain communicated really well through booking the reservation and leading up to the trip. On the day of the trip, the visibility was very low, and the winds were not favorable but Capt. Ben put me on the fish right away. I ended up hooking and landing a fish on the first cast. We marked fish all day, and i had a great time hanging with the captain. His boat has tons of space and cover for any type of weather conditions. The equipment was well maintained and top-notch. Overall a great experience. The Captain stayed in communication leading up to the trip to help us best plan our timing. He was very personable and patient. While I grew up fishing, my colleague didn’t and Captain took the time to teach him best practices. While you aren’t always guaranteed fish, we had a great day and no time was wasted driving around. He picked a known spot and caught fish starting on the first cast. We also were lucky enough to see a seal as well as a bald eagle catching fish off the top of the water. All in all great trip and great Captain.

Me and three friends went striper fishing and had a blast! Ben was an awesome captain (and cool to hang with) and knew where all the spots were. We went to hook some baitfish and immediately had perfect mackerel on the line. Once we stocked up on mackerel we headed to our first great spot to catch striper. We all were able to catch striper in a few different spots while enjoying cold beverages on the boat.. there a was also a nice, clean head (bathroom) on the boat, which is great! I would highly recommend this boat and captain to anybody wanting to go on the water, fishing or not.

Myself and my 7-yr old went out for a 4-hr charter and had a blast. Captain Ben knows the bay really well, and it showed. A great day of fishing!

Such an incredible morning on Casco Bay. Kids probably caught 100-150 Mackerel! We even saw a dolphin! Captain Ben was fantastic! We arrived a few minutes early and he was ready and waiting for us! He got us to where we were going within 10 mins. He had friends out on the water that radio-ed over their location. Within 30 seconds of the lines being in the water, both kids had a fish on! Although the boys were catching Mackeral (small fish), there were often 3-5 on the line at the same time so they definitely felt a good fight! In the few minutes that there weren't fish on, we watched lobster boats off-loading their traps. We saw seals swimming and even caught a dolphin on video! Captain Ben was so knowledgeable. He heard the dolphin before he saw it, which enabled us the opportunity to grab a phone for a video. This trip was eventful, entertaining and informative! My only regret in booking with Kristin K Charter, is booking so late in the season. The trip was so much, it left us wanting more! Whether you're a local (like me) or from “away,” this is a great opportunity to experience Maine! Can’t wait to do this again!

We did the four hour bay trip. Captain Ben is a great fisherman and an even better guy. We learned a great deal about fishing for striped bass, good local places, and caught 15 or so fish. As a side note, the trip we chose meant being able to see the shore and land made it a lot easier not to get seasick.
